Somewhere in Portugal, June 13, 2025

Do you know that feeling when there’s a place that isn’t your home, yet feels just like that? For many of us, that place is Portugal. The funny thing is that we have all developed a love for and connection with Portugal totally independently of each other.

Take Andrian, for example, who regularly drives to Portugal in the summer to visit his family. And yes, “drives.” By car. Thousands of kilometers. Or Micha, who dared to surf in Ericeira – craaaaazy! But he got a taste for it and is a frequent visitor to Portugal ;-)

Then there’s Jan, who, despite all developer clichés, spent last Winter in sunny Portugal rather than in the German gloominess. He rented an AirBnB and drove in his car, office equipment and all, to Albufeira. He was particularly taken with the fresh seafood there.

Even Luter had settled in Portugal for a while. As a native Brazilian, he eventually missed the sun in Berlin so much that he packed up his stuff and moved South. That’s how Jana and I ended up meeting Luter in Lisbon. The 3 of us had a very amusing evening together. First, we enjoyed delicious “naco na pedra” (steak on stone) at one of Luter’s secret spots. Then we got to meet some of his Brazilian friends. They were so warm and laid-back that we immediately felt like part of the group.

The weekend in Lisbon was part of a workation in Portugal. Our home base was my vacation home in Olhão. There, Jana and I set up our office camp for 2 weeks. During the day, we worked normally (that is, hard) and in the afternoons, we enjoyed the area. We went to the beach and hiked in the mountains, explored Faro and Tavira, shopped in Loulé, and found the best Sangria at the marina in Olhão.

Fortunately, Thomas, our boss, shares the fascination for this country. He, too, has driven to Portugal twice in his Jeep (notice anything? The men prefer riding in their cars!). There, he has stayed by the sea and in the mountains to really unwind. During a visit with Luter, the two of them got creative offline and crafted future plans for our products.

Can you tell, we are really a bit smitten with Portugal. Who knows, maybe one day there will be a “vision2facts Portugal Lda.” Until then, we’ll stick to vacations & workations in Ronaldo’s homeland as our ultimate source of energy.

Have an unforgettable vacation, wherever it may be,

Susanne
